Freedom of information requests

The Information Act 2002 allows you to make a freedom of information (FOI) request to access government information or information that a public sector organisation holds about you.

Under the legislation, every person has a right to access information. However, a government organisation is not required to provide access to the information if it is not in the public interest. This type of information is known as 'exempt'.

Part 4, section 49E of the Information Act 2002 sets out what information held by ICAC is exempt.

Information is exempt if it is obtained or created under the ICAC Act in the course, conduct or making of an audit, review, preliminary inquiries, referral, investigation or report by the ICAC.  The exemption also includes any information that identifies a protected person or relates to an evaluation or complaint received by the Inspector.
