How I can help to prevent improper conduct

For everyone

Anyone can report suspected improper conduct, including corruption, to the ICAC. You can report to the ICAC even if you have reported it to another organisation, such as NT Police, the Ombudsman, or the Northern Territory Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NTCAT).

If the ICAC doesn’t know about something, we can’t deal with it. If you are unsure if something you’ve seen is improper conduct, contact us.

For public officers and public bodies

People working in public bodies, such as NTG agencies and local government councils, need to consider how they can help prevent improper conduct and corruption in their organisation.

All public officers should know about the ICAC and mandatory reporting obligations to report suspected improper conduct. Public officers should attend an ICAC information session and have easy access to agency policies about improper conduct.

Senior management should consider what measures they are taking to prevent improper conduct. These may include creating and promoting a transparent and accountable culture, having a risk management framework, developing policies on conflict of interest, fraud and corruption control, whistleblower protection and meeting ICAC reporting obligations.
