About the CEO

Reece Kershaw APM is the Chief Executive Officer of the Office of the Integrity and Ethics Commissioner.

Mr Kershaw was the Australian Federal Police Commissioner from 2019 to 2025.  During this time he led Australia’s national law enforcement agency, with over 8,000 staff. Almost half of those were corporate, analysist and specialist staff to support the police and protective services officers.

Mr Kershaw focused on building the capability of the AFP through ensuring the right people were in the right positions.  He was instrumental in establishing the AFP-led Joint Police Cybercrime Coordination Centre, for a coordinated national approach to cybercrime which involved not only Australian, but international law enforcement and importantly, industry representatives.

Mr Kershaw has over 35 years experience in leading law enforcement and emergency services agencies, including international deployments to East Timor, the Solomon Islands and the Netherlands.

His areas of expertise are strategic planning, governance, integrity, anti corruption measures, national security strategy, cybercrime and digital threat response, criminal asset confiscation and financial crime, large-scale organisational transformation and regional security.

In recognition of his extensive career, Mr Kershaw has been awarded:

  • Insignia of the Order of Timor-Leste
  • NT Police Force - Outstanding Leadership Medal
  • Australian Police Medal
  • French Internal Security Medal

Mr Kershaw’s qualifications include:

  • Masters in Business Administration, Charles Sturt University
  • Graduate Certificate in Business, Monash University
  • Certificate in Business, Berne University Switzerland
  • Graduate Australian Institute of Company Directors

Mr Kershaw will initially focus on establishing the Office of the Integrity and Ethics Commissioner through targeted recruitment and capability building, ensuring staff have the skills and knowledge to support high quality resolutions processes, investigations and wholistic prevention strategies.
