The Independent Commissioner Against Corruption (ICAC) works to guard against improper conduct in the Northern Territory Government, local councils and other related bodies.
Improper conduct includes behaviours or actions relating to public administration that are corrupt, against the law, dishonest, inappropriate and against the best interests of Territorians.
The ICAC can review, investigate or refer matters on to referral entities to address improper conduct in public administration. He also conducts activities to educate the community about improper conduct to prevent improper conduct from occurring.
