After attending the Nominated Recipient Forum on Monday 8 May, 38 public officers from 29 different public bodies in the NT now know what to look for!
The forum featured several speakers, including The Hon. Ann Vanstone KC, Commissioner, from the Independent Commission Against Corruption SA, and Commissioner Michael Riches, the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption NT.
While learning more about their responsibilities as nominated recipients, participants were introduced to high-level international and national reports on aspects of corruption, with examples and case studies relating to:
- behavioural red flags of fraud
- fraud personas
- corruption in procurement.
- corruption risks associated with unsolicited proposals.
Commissioner Vanstone also impressed on all forum participants that prevention activities are crucial, as prevention is the best way to close down corruption in public bodies.
The next Nominated Recipient Forum for NT public officers is scheduled for October 2023.
